Apple M2 MacBook Pro 14″ & 16″ and M2 Mac mini

Early this morning, Apple announced the next step up in speed and battery life in the laptop form factor with the new M2 MacBook Pro. We also saw the new Mac mini released with the M2 and M2 Pro inside for desktop workstations. What the announcement video below from Apple:

The new M2 MacBook Pro is supercharged by the M2 Pro and M2 Max giving you even more power and upgrading the already impressive MacBook Pro M1. This performance is now available even when on the go and away from a power outlet.

This is combined with a stunning Liquid Retina XDR display giving you true-to-life colours. Apple’s ProMotion automatically adjusts the display to refresh rates up to 120hz, saving on battery usage as well as showing you best viewing experience.

Finally, The new M2 MacBooks have the longest battery life of any Mac. In the 14″ model you can get up to 18hrs of video playback or 12hrs of wireless web browsing and in the 16″ model you can get up to 22hrs of video playback and up to 15hrs of wireless web browsing.

In this release we saw the first pro tier chips enter the Mac mini lineup in the M2 Pro. The M2 Pro is up to 4.7x faster than the Intel based Mac mini. The M2 Pro in the Mac mini gives you up to a 12-core CPU and up to a 19-core GPU with up to 32GB of unified memory.

This desktop device is an ideal solution for the school computer lab with enough power for video editing while in a compact package.

In conclusion, today we saw another leap for Apple in the smaller and mobile form factor devices. We are sure that many CompNow clients will be excited to get the most of these in the coming year.
