Sustainable IT with HP: How Compnow & HP Are Driving a Greener Future
At Compnow, we believe that sustainability is not just a responsibility but an opportunity to make a lasting impact. Partnering with HP, we are actively working towards environmentally friendly outcomes—both within our business and for our customers. Through innovative initiatives in IT lifecycle management, green energy adoption, and sustainable product development, we are committed to building a future that is both inclusive and environmentally responsible.
Compnow’s Sustain IT facilitates IT buyback and remarketing by is helping businesses maximise the lifespan of their devices. Sustain IT focuses on extending device usability through resale, repair, and donation. HP Elitebooks and ZBooks, for example, hold strong remarketing potential at the three-year mark—just when many large businesses look to refresh their fleet.
Extending a device’s life through programs like Sustain IT can prevent approximately 258 kg of CO2 equivalent emissions per device. Over the past 12 months alone, Sustain IT has diverted over 10 kilotonnes of CO2—equivalent to 66.7 million kilometers of air travel. By keeping devices in circulation longer, we are significantly reducing electronic waste and its environmental footprint.
Driving Change with Electric Vehicles
Compnow’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond IT. As part of our efforts to minimise carbon emissions, we have transitioned a significant portion of our company fleet to electric vehicles (EVs). These EVs, used primarily by our engineers who travel the most, contribute to reduced carbon emissions, cleaner air in urban areas, and lower noise pollution. With more than 30 electric vehicles currently in operation, our fleet has already saved tonnes of carbon emissions.
Harnessing Renewable Energy
At Compnow’s head office, solar power meets the majority of our energy needs. Our rooftop solar array generates approximately 47 megawatt-hours of energy per month, preventing around 3 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions each month. Additionally, through our partnership with Carbon Positive Australia, we support large-scale tree planting and ecosystem restoration efforts—removing approximately 215 tonnes of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere since the program’s inception.
