What is Hyperconverged Infrastructure?
The modern workplace has to be agile and ready for monumental shifts in where their staff are most effective. CompNow has a long partnership with Dell Technologies and recently were promoted to Titanium status giving you access to the best possible opportunities for IT success and growth, by leveraging our intimate knowledge and relationships across Dell Technologies’ entire business.
CompNow’s National Engineering Manager, Jason Griffiths and our National Pre-sales Manager, Chris O’Reilly are here to breakdown the new world of hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) so you can make the most of your server space while improving the scalability and security of your data.
Hyperconverged Infrastructure is the combination of our traditional 3-tiers of infrastructure, servers/storage and networking into a scalable infrastructure platform with intelligent software to create flexible building blocks. Basically, we are combining switching, servers and storage arrays into a scalable chassis unit.
Compared to updating a traditional 3 tier infrastructure with separate servers, racks, storage, firmware for all the components, very easy to miss something and leave a security hole in your infrastructure – compared to HCI that manages everything from a central management aka single pane of glass.
Dell VxRail integrated systems are designed with VMware, for VMware, to enhance VMware enabled organisations ability to streamline operations and predictably evolve. We no longer need to worry about ‘has that been tested’ because we know that when it comes to VMware, it’s a turnkey solution.
Deploying is all about efficiency, VxRail is up to 95% faster than racking, stacking, patching, updating and troubleshooting individual servers and requires 86% fewer steps than deploying a single rack server.
So to put it in layman’s terms, after the initial setup, it takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes to deploy a VxRail Appliance and just five minutes to add a new one.
