The Solution.
Geraldton Christian College engaged Compnow to design a model that would secure learning outcomes while maintaining predictable costs. After reviewing available options, Apple devices became the recommended choice. To the school’s surprise, MacBook Air devices were not only the best fit for teaching and learning but also the most cost-effective option when leased under a residual return model. This ensured that geography would not restrict the school’s access to the best technologies available.
To ensure confidence in the transition, Compnow delivered a Mac Proof of Concept and Deployment Optimisation engineering engagement. This work validated the technical approach, removed risk and helped prepare the school for a smooth rollout. It was a crucial step that gave leadership certainty that their vision for a best in region program was achievable.
A three-year Compnow Finance lease was structured in collaboration with Business Manager Tracey Du Pont. This allowed the College to adopt the fleet without straining cash flow and ensured fit for purpose devices across the entire student body. Low residual costs and the lease to return model kept the program budget friendly while enabling predictable refresh cycles that maintain the school’s technology advantage for years to come.
“Lanie Coffa from Compnow walked us through all the Finance options. The leasing model made it possible for us to do this properly.” says Tracey.
Lanie Coffa, Financial Services Manager – K12 at Compnow, says “Partnering with Apple Financial Services, Compnow Finance were able to provide market leading Finance solutions for GCC’s Staff and Student laptop program. Included was additional flexibility and savings on the return process at lease maturity.”
To protect the fleet of the secondary students 330 Apple MacBook Air’s and minimise downtime, STM rugged cases were deployed. The impact of this strategy became clear within the first year. Even with students granted take-home privileges, only an extremely small proportion of devices required any insurance support, underscoring the strength and reliability of the program. Incidents were limited to a few cases of screen damage and one isolated case of water exposure. This exceptionally low rate of damage meant students remained consistently connected to their learning with virtually no interruption, demonstrating the effectiveness of the approach in maintaining device readiness and continuity both at school and at home.
Compnow Academy also supported teachers with practical and relatable training that ensured strong adoption of the new technology. Andrew noted that teachers respond best to other teachers, and having subject
matter experts from Compnow working with staff has resulted in better integration of digital tools in the classroom and improved student engagement.
Throughout the journey, Compnow’s Business Development Manager, Al Martin, has continued to support the College with planning, advice and escalation when needed. The school values this depth of capability and the ongoing guidance that continues to evolve with their digital strategy.
