New business apps from Apple and IBM that will utilise big data and analytic capabilities are expected to transform enterprise mobility.
The business apps are a product of an exclusive partnership between Apple and IBM and will be available on iPhone and iPads later this year. The apps are expected to help companies become more efficient, effective and increase customer satisfaction.
The IBM MobileFirst Platform for iOS has been developed to address key mobility challenges that industries face. This will include more than 100 industry-specific enterprise solutions designed exclusively for iPhone and iPad and IBM cloud services including mobile device management, security, mobile integration and analytics.
Apple will also introduce AppleCare for Enterprise that will offer personalised service and support for its business clients.
In a case study on their website IBM identify how they have already begun to implement enterprise solutions in large multinationals such as Ford. Ford wanted to give consumers the ability to connect to their car via third-party applications. IBM used their software to create a solution that allows Ford customers to interact with their favourite apps, such as Pandora, through the console in the car.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook says the high penetration of iOS devices and the new applications will continue to develop mobile solutions in business.
“iPhone and iPad are the best mobile devices in the world and have transformed the way people work with over 98 percent of the Fortune 500 and over 92 percent of the Global 500 using iOS devices in their business today,” said Mr Cook.
“For the first time ever we’re putting IBM’s renowned big data analytics at iOS users’ fingertips, which opens up a large market opportunity for Apple. This is a radical step for enterprise and something that only Apple and IBM can deliver.”
